In India, cricket is not just a sport, it’s more like a religion for many fans. Most of the times cricketing stadium in India are fully packed whenever a game took place in India and if it is a World Cup match then you will get a view a festival of the cricketing fans. ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be host by India. Everyone is so excited about that World Cup but there is bad news for all the fans. India might lose it’s 2023 World Cup hosting rights due to a deal between BCCI and ICC.

What is the whole matter?

During the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup, Indian Government promised to waive off taxes but they didn’t. Therefore for the compensation of it, ICC has asked BCCI to pay them $23 Million (Approx. Rs. 160 Cr). ICC has asked BCCI to pay the amount before the deadline of the 31 December or they will remove the hosting rights of the 2021 Champions Trophy and 2023 World Cup.

A senior BCCI member has said:-

Biting the hand that feeds, eh? Is that what it has come down to? A sports body that has economic value primarily because it feeds on India’s commercial stake in the game is telling India that it cannot host a World Cup? And that too with an Indian heading that organisation right now? What a joke.

ICC hasn’t still announced the alternative hosts for the World Cup.
